Hot Flash Proof Makeup Tips and Tricks from Beauty Brand Founder, Laura Geller

Back in 2021, my company Laura Geller Beauty made the game-changing decision to only feature models over the age of 40. After all, older women are major beauty consumers, yet they are vastly underrepresented in market imagery. Nobody stops buying makeup just because they get older! With this in mind, I wanted to change the entire conversation around women and aging. That includes how we talk about the Big Change: menopause!

Look, we all know about it. Every woman goes through menopause at some point in her life. But why does it have to be such a secret? I believe we should be able to talk openly and frankly when it comes to menopause. That’s exactly why I’m thrilled to work with Midday. We’re both on board with transforming how we approach and talk about all the changes menopause can bring!

Makeup and Menopause

Hot flashes are a major menopausal symptom that many women struggle with. They can be unpredictable, frustrating, and downright life-altering! But as one of the first makeup brands in the industry catering to women of a certain age, it’s definitely something I keep in mind when developing my products.

If you suffer from hot flashes, your first instinct may be simply not to wear makeup. On the one hand, that makes sense. Who wants to wear a full face of heavy foundation when you’re sweating? But like I often say: your love of makeup never goes away, no matter what your age!

I personally developed countless makeup products to resist the sweat and discomfort of hot flashes. My newest foundation, Double Take Liquid Foundation, has a sweat-resistant formula to keep it in place through any attack.

Plus, who could forget about Baked Balance-n-Brighten? This fan-favorite foundation has a lightweight feel on your skin. It won’t weigh you down – it barely feels like you’re wearing anything at all. But it still gives you soft, buildable coverage to even out your skin tone. Take it from me: You don’t have to give up make-up just because you’re going through menopause.

Feelin’ Breezy

I always recommend to women who are experiencing hot flashes to take their wardrobe into account. Dress in comfortable, lightweight clothing made with breathable fabrics like cotton. If you look breezy, you’ll feel breezy.

Here’s another tip: invest in a personal neck fan. Seriously, there is no shame in this! I often walk around the grocery store or take shopping trips with mine. I’ll even wear it out at a restaurant! It’s like your own personal, perfect breeze. I know it helps me feel cooler and more comfortable.
