Fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, dry, flaky skin, brown spots, and rosacea are just a few of the aging skin problems menopausal women report. Estrogen is critical to keeping our skin hydrated, tight, thick, and bright. When estrogen declines during the menopause life stage, our skin undergoes changes. Usually, the first thing we notice is dryness. Formerly oily or normal complexions become dehydrated and may even flake. Dry skin gets even drier. We lose our natural glow, and fine lines emerge and become more prominent. That’s because our moisture barrier has become compromised. We lose our natural lipids, like ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol, contributing to inflammation and dehydration.

Aging skin is a highly frustrating change that sends women desperately searching for products to replace their tried and true skincare regime. Until recently, products on the market were made for younger women and didn’t address the specific challenges and needs of menopausal skin. We’re excited to report that the beauty industry is getting a much-needed shakeup. New, upstart brands have arrived on the scene targeting the unique needs of women 40+.

Caire Beauty is a new company with skincare products designed for “grown-up skin.” We love that phrase, grown-up. It’s a refreshing change from having our skin characterized as aging or menopausal. We are grown-up women with grown-up skin!

Co-founders Celeste Lee and Lorrie King are midlife women and beauty industry veterans who have a deep understanding that skincare products historically have not been designed for women 40+. Celeste has worked with major beauty brands, including Avon and ColorScience, and Lorrie led SiO Beauty and worked with Halle Berry on her fragrance line. After friends and family members put them on speed dial for all their skincare questions, they knew there was a large number of women who were not being served by traditional brands. Caire Beauty was born. The company recognizes that every woman is an individual. The “i” in Caire stands for the individual in you.

How Caire Beauty is Different

Caire Beauty calls its approach to skincare “defiance science.” They report that 99% of so-called active ingredients in skincare products simply sit on top of the skin and don’t penetrate. Caire Beauty’s tech-forward line is formulated by scientists. It infuses key molecules into the skin’s mid and deep layers and activates your body to make more skin cells. According to doctors, as we age, declining estrogen and progesterone cause our skin to produce fewer and fewer skin molecules and proteins over time. It’s those deficiencies that contribute to the problems of aging skin.

Caire Beauty currently offers a Theorem Serum Boost, Triple Lift Molecule Mask, and Grown Up Moisturizer. The products build up the skin’s strength when used together.

The Theorem Serum Boost contains a proprietary formula using the most advanced triple-action Hyaluronic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid Growth Factor delivered through a unique delivery mechanism. It works by absorbing more deeply and driving hydration through the skin layers. On the other hand, the Hyaluronic Acid Peptide activates the skin to build more collagen and hyaluronic acid on its own. The effect is an instant glow, more supple skin, and with consistent use, firmer skin. Clinical studies show that the serum improves firmness up to 200% after using it twice daily for four weeks.

The Triple Lift Molecule Mask has similar ingredients but adds a bio-fermented sugar polymer. An ingredient comprised of tiny threads that help the other ingredients to infuse the skin. The mask tightens, hydrates, heals and lifts the skin. In a clinical study, 100% of the participants noticed significantly smoother skin, brighter and more radiant skin after application, less irritation and redness, and a lifting of the skin around the eyes.

Caire’s Grown Up Moisturizer is a patent-pending Oprah Daily Beauty O-ward Winner. It works to fight both external and internal skin aging. Ingredients like peptides, hyraluronic acid, Super E, and red algae help restore and strengthen skin.

Caire Beauty has a clean formulation standard. Products are non-pore-clogging, vegan, cruelty-free, and don’t contain phytoestrogens, fragrance, artificial dyes, gluten, phthalates, paraben, silicone, sulfates, and polyvinyl alcohol. A red algae antioxidant gives the products their natural pink color. They have also reduced the amount of packaging to have a lighter impact on the environment.

Putting Caire Beauty To the Test

We tried the Caire Beauty products to see if they lived up to the claims. Tester #1 is a 51-year old woman who experienced early menopause at age 41 due to breast cancer treatment. Her skin changed again when she went through what she calls a “second menopause.” Our second tester is a 56-year old postmenopausal woman with dry skin through the T-zone, a bit of redness, thinning skin, some sagging, and a few brown spots here and there. Overall, they both were very happy with their product experience.

Tester #1 – dry, blotchy, dull skin with fine lines

“I love the Triple Lift Molecule Mask! I like the way it goes over my skin. It feels so good and relaxing once I’ve let it sit for a while and then rinse it off. I literally glow for a day or so. I am very sensitive to smell. If a product smells too much of chemicals or perfume, I won’t use it. This masque has very little smell at all. A little goes a long way, and I can see having enough for 6 months. It’s worth the price.”

“I like the serum too. Since it’s an everyday thing, the results don’t feel as dramatic as the mask. Maybe that’s because of the instant glow you get from the mask. However, using the serum, when I wake up in the morning, my face feels much more hydrated than before. I also feel like I have healthier skin now too — not as dull looking. Like the mask, the smell is minimal too. One piece of feedback I would give is to change the dropper. It doesn’t work that well, but that’s a minor point.”

“For the most part, I feel like the elasticity in my skin has come back and I also noticed my skin is shinier and less dull. I’m not sure if the redness has been reduced, but I find myself using my translucent powder less — more to reduce shine than to reduce redness.”

Tester #2 – dry skin, redness, thinning, sagging, age spots

“Within two days of using the Theorem Serum Boost, my very large pores were noticeably smaller. A lot smaller. My skin feels nicely hydrated and soft, especially in the morning. I also noticed that a good-size brown spot has lightened up, and a red spot that the dermatologist called a spider angioma has shrunk significantly. I didn’t expect these benefits and am pretty excited that I found a product that finally helps with these issues. For the pore-minimizing benefit alone, this serum has earned a place in my daily skincare routine. I am a convert!”

“I like the mask too, especially in the warm weather. It’s gel-like and has a pleasant cooling feeling on my skin. It definitely gives my skin a nice glow. When I resume more social activities, I can see myself using it before going out for that extra glow.”

“Overall, I liked these products a lot, especially the serum. They don’t have a scent, which is important because I am sensitive to scented products. They’ll last a long time and the price is reasonable given the great results. I am excited to see what new products they come out with.”
